Colovaginal fistula secondary to diverticular disease

ABSTRACT
Spontaneous development of colovaginal fistula secondary to diverticular
disease, is a rare cause of abdominal vaginal discharge in older woman.
We report the case of a patient, a 74-year -old woman, with a long history
on seropositive rheumatoid arthritis, controlled with Celebrex, and
hypertension controlled with Enalapril. She had previously undergone
hysterectomy. The patient was admitted with a four-week history of
vaginal discharge. She presented altered vital signs and elevated white
cell count. With the clinical history, the blood tests together with a
vaginography and abdominal computed tomography the diagnosis of colovaginal
fistula was made.
