ABSTRACT
Ectopic pregnancy is the implantation of a fertilized egg outside of the uterine cavity. It occurs in approximately 2% of all pregnancies in the United States and is the nation´s leading cause of first trimester maternal death. Techniques for the early and accurate diagnosis of ectopic pregnancy have improved significantly over the past two decades with the finality to preserve fertility. A retrospective study of 129 patients with tubal ectopic pregnancy was done at the ABC Medical Center between June 1996 and July 2001. The results are analyzed, discussing the risk factors, the diagnosis and the treatment.
