ABSTRACT
Tako-tsubo syndrome is characterized by transient regional systolic dysfunction, mainly of the left ventricle, which can be confused with an acute myocardial infarction. Still, without angiographic evidence of obstructive coronary artery disease, it is triggered by a stress episode. Its highest incidence is in postmenopausal women; in men over 70 years old, it is rare and has higher mortality.
