ABSTRACT
The present manuscript describes the case of a 28-year-old man, infected with
Plasmodium vivax after suffering a needlestick injury while taking a venous blood sample from a patient originally from Venezuela who was diagnosed with malaria. The patient was treated with Chloroquine for seven days, presenting a good response to the medication. This case induced by malaria shows the relevance of human mobility as a social determinant of health and the risk factors to which health personnel are exposed in their daily activities. Since malaria-induced cases are not frequent, the data generated by this study could serve as a reference for the investigation and analysis of other cases of a similar nature.
