ABSTRACT
Squamous cell carcinoma is the second most common neoplasm of the skin, and it is the most common in the oral cavity. It is located most frequently on the lower lip, generally has a favorable prognosis, with an age-adjusted mortality rate of 0.69 per 10,000 and cure rates that exceed 95% with excision of the primary tumor. The reconstruction of this anatomical region requires the use of techniques and flaps that allow optimal recovery and function for daily living activities involved in eating and speaking. We present the case of a patient with squamous cell carcinoma of the lower lip treated with complete resection and reconstruction using the Karapandzic flap, with a good aesthetic and functional result.
