ABSTRACT
Although cognitive revolution continues to be presented as the substitution or replacement for behaviorism in favor of cognitive psychology, modern diversity of behavioral approaches is a clear example of said replacement never happened. On the contrary: while relegated, behavioral approaches continue growing, and offer particular and sophisticated ways for understanding psychological phenomena. Many of them understand these phenomena in similar ways to approaches of very different traditions. In this paper, I intend to show, mainly in a graphic way, behaviorisms’ position in the landscape of modern psychology. First, I will expose the arguments and evidence against the idea of cognitive revolution, commonly understood as a process of paradigm substitution in which cognitivism replaced behaviorism. Secondly, I will expose very briefly those approaches classified as behaviorisms, and then, I will present their relationship with other forms of psychology -particularly cognitive psychology and psychobiology- using figures. Likewise, I will expose the links between behaviorisms and other theories of mind that also focus on the organism-environment interaction. Finally, in the conclusion I will present some reflections on the role behaviorisms play in contemporary psychology and on what this kind of exercise may imply for psychology.
