ABSTRACT
Introduction: usually, candidates of critical care fellowship turn to the internet for information that can help them choose the hospital where they will perform their medical specialty. Currently, the information available is scarce and confusing.
Objective: evaluate the content and accessibility of information on official websites.
Material and methods: a descriptive analysis of the official websites of critical medicine residency sites was carried out through an evaluation of 13 information criteria.
Results: a total of 67 hospitals were found in Mexico to perform the critical care medicine fellowship, 28 (42%) have an official website with an average compliance of information of 3.5 points (27%). The main criteria were "contact (telephone/email)" with 100%, "selection process" 72%, "main professor" 61% and "university endorsement" 57% of compliance. The least found criteria were "financial remuneration" 4%, "graduate fellows" 4%, "current fellows" 4% and "research lines" 4%. None of them referred to "social life" within or outside of the hospital.
Conclusions: most of the hospital where they offered the critical care medicine fellowship in Mexico do not have an official website where candidates can search for information related to the fellowship program. In those found, the information is limited, outdated and difficult to access. This becomes an important opportunity for the teaching departments of all hospitals.
