ABSTRACT
Objective. To describe care and information seeking, and
the prevalence of use of sexual and reproductive health
(SRH) services among sexually initiated adolescents aged
12-19 years.
Materials and methods. We analyzed
information from sexually initiated adolescents using the
Encuesta Nacional de Salud y Nutrición 2023 (Ensanut 2023).
We described the search for and use of SRH services according to sociodemographic characteristics.
Results. One in
three adolescents sought information or care; 94.6% of those
who sought information or care received it. Females were
more likely to use SRH services. Care was mainly provided at
health days or health fairs (70%). The main reasons for seeking
care were sexual orientation and contraceptive counseling.
Conclusions. There is an urgent need to implement interinstitutional interventions that promote adolescents’ access
to health services, including strengthening knowledge of the
wide range of services and spaces they can access.
