Hypercalcemic crisis in a geriatric patient with newly diagnosed parathyroid adenoma

ABSTRACT
Primary hyperparathyroidism is a hypercalcemic disorder that involves excessive activity of the parathyroid glands. Hypercalcemic crises are rare complications that can result from altered alertness. 83-year-old woman independent for basic activities, mild dependence on instrumented activities, cognitive impairment of 2 months of evolution, chronic pain. He came due to a stupor and sudden generalized tonic-clonic seizures. Initial laboratory tests revealed elevated serum calcium levels. A parathyroid mammogram was performed, and a left parathyroid adenoma was found. Presents a decrease in calcium levels and improvement in neurological status with the implementation of medical management.REFERENCES
