Introduction: health education actions have the purpose of providing the population with information and knowledge that leads to the positive modification of behaviors related to their health. Objective: To evaluate an educational intervention in adult patients with metabolic syndrome in rural Zacatecas. Methodology: quasi-experimental and comparative study. Two study groups participated: intervened and non-intervened. Sociodemographic information, diet, and anthropometric and biochemical indicators were collected. The intervention consisted of personalized nutritional counseling for six weeks. The initial and final anthropometric and biochemical levels of both groups were compared. The Wilcoxon test was applied with α=0.05. Results: 20 people participated in the intervention group and 12 in the non-intervention group, female sex prevailed, average age of 50 years. The comparison of the initial and final means of the operated group obtained statistical significance (p≤0.05) in weight, body mass index; waist circumference, glucose and triglycerides. While in the opposite group these indicators increased. Discussion: The results obtained were similar to other interventions carried out in adults. Conclusion: The intervention was positive, it contributed to the care of the vulnerable population. It is recommended to follow up through health education actions.REFERENCES
