ABSTRACT
The inferior alveolar canal is an important anatomical structure of the mandible. Located between the apices of the third molars and the inferior alveolar canal, relationships can be established to be considered at the time of the surgical approach. The objective of this research is to determine the anatomical relationship that exists between the lower alveolar canal with respect to class II third molars using Cone-Beam computed tomography. The present investigation is descriptive, quantitative, of transversal documentary design. The sample consisted of 122 tomographies from the Odontoimagen Rx3D Dental Radiology Center database, located in the State of Mérida. The data were analyzed with the statistical package SPSS version 15. The third molars class II position A did not present displacement in their majority and the location of the canal was related to the apical third, a deformation of the canal with greater prevalence in the vestibule-lingual direction and the distance with the root was 0 mm. Class II position B third molars presented a displacement of the canal towards the lingual with a location with respect to the middle third of the root described towards the apical third. The deformation in the vestibule-lingual direction and the distance from the point closest to the root of 0 mm. Class II position C third molars described a displacement in the lingual and vestibular direction, both with the same percentage, a location with a higher index in the apical third. The deformation of the canal was more frequent in the vestibule-lingual direction with a distance to the root of 0 mm.
