ABSTRACT
In Mexico, in 2020 only 8.5% of blood was collected voluntarily, despite the fact that the World Health Organization (WHO) established that by that year it should be 100%; Therefore, a well-informed health personnel shows a greater interest in blood donation in an altruistic way, with a positive influence on society. This protocol is a quantitative, observational, descriptive and cross-sectional study. Total universe: 127, sample size: 104, participants: 94, obtaining a non-response rate of 8%. The objective was to identify the level of knowledge and attitudes about blood donation among health workers. A data collection instrument was used, with knowledge questions based on NOM-253-SSA1-2012 and attitude towards altruistic blood donation. It was validated by carrying out a pilot test with 20 workers assigned to the Dietology and Nutrition Service of the AHCGFAA, excluded after the application of the instrument in question. Knowledge results showed 56.75% of correct answers, attitude was obtained 81.78% with empathic response towards this topic. It was concluded that in relation to knowledge it is not a favorable result, since this sector should reflect a greater specialization on this subject. An empathic attitude does not reflect an increase in altruistic blood donation, if the knowledge does not have training about the requirements for donation.REFERENCES
