ABSTRACT
The validity of the Traditional Medicine, as health strategy in our society it´s real and it is based mainly on the herbalist. The region possesses an extraordinary amount of plants with potential curative effects, which require a scientific and detailed investigation. The article shows a clinical case in the Instituto Mexicano del Seguro Social in Emergency Service of the Clinic 72 inside the Toxicology Unit (UNITOX), in April 2002. The particular case is the poisoning with seeds of a toxic plant: Hura polyandra (San Ignacio bean’s, Jabillo, Possumwood), considered inside the traditional medicine as a violent purge. The patient ingested them with orange juice for parasiticide, cause vomiting and diarrhoea when was ingested, severe neurological deficit with lost of conscience, agitation and convulsive crisis. The boarding is exposed in the Emergency Service, the diagnosis and treatment.REFERENCES
