Hemiglossitis as manifestation of alimentary allergy

ABSTRACT
Background: Food allergies are on the raise, with a wide suite of clinical presentations
that include affectation to the skin, respiratory and gastrointestinal systems.
Clinical case: A 63-year-old male patient, without any relevant clinical background
that went to evaluation for secondary hemiglossitis after eating mamey ice cream, being
a rare manifestation of a food allergy/food poisoning.
Conclusions: Timely management of hemiglossitis with antihistamines in association
with steroids is very useful to limit the extent of damage.
