ABSTRACT

Introduction: Cardiovascular diseases have leaded the health statistics in Cuba, for more than 40 years, as main cause of death.
Objective: To implement an educative intervention strategy for modifying the level of knowledge and risk factors of Ischemic cardiopathy.
Methods: An educative intervention strategy was carried out in the Doctor´s Office # 13, from ¨Eusebio Rafael Izquierdo Ramírez¨ teaching policlinic, in Puerto Padre, Las Tunas province, from March, 2018 to March, 2019. The population under study was formed by 160 patients with risk factors and the selection of the sample was made by a simple sample at random, it was made by 90 patients. The studied variables were: age, sex; scholarship, level of knowledge; risk factors. The intervention was designed in three stages: diagnosis, implementation and evaluation, the percentage calculus was used.
Results: The female sex and the 60 to 69 age group in a 17.78 % prevailed. The risk factors which prevailed were: sedentary life style in a 40 %, smoking habit in the 22.22 %; obesity and alcohol ingestion in the 15.56 %. The low level of knowledge prevailed at the beginning of the intervention and at the end it was high.
Conclusions: The increasing of the level of knowledge of ischemic cardiopathy and the decreasing of the prevalence of its risk factors was accomplished. The effectiveness of the intervention was achieved.
