Knowledge and application of the clinical method in the Internal Medicine Service

ABSTRACT
Introduction: The clinical method is based in the application of the Scientific method, in the medical practice, it is a process formed by different stages that guarantee the diagnosis and treatment of sick people. In this moment, there is an underestimating of this method, and this research in performed because of its importance.Objective: To characterize knowledge and application of the clinical method in an Internal Medicine Service.
Methods: An observational study was carried out in the Internal Medicine Service at ¨Aleida Fernández Chardiet¨ Teaching Clinical Surgical Hospital, in Güines, Mayabeque Province, from January, 2020 to March, 2020 , the sample was selected at random ,simple and stratified, formed by 83 surveyed people: specialists in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, residents of both specialties, students of sixth and third year of Medicine, the information was collected in a survey form with previous informed consent.
Results: The 79.52 % of the surveyed people declared that they knew the clinical method, only the 50.6 % obtained a good evaluation, the most frequent mistakes were: the 71.08 % did not recognize the importance of the clinical history and the importance of the doctor-patient relationship in its application, its history in Cuba was unknown, 53.66 % and in the 46.99 %, the role of the investigations are excluded.
Conclusions: There is no knowledge of the clinical method, there is no real perception and though, it is not applied with efficiency.
