Acute bilateral patellar tendon rupture in a patient without risk factors. Case report and review of the literature

ABSTRACT
Bilateral patellar tendon rupture is a rare dysfunction of the extensor mechanism, there are predisposing factors such as drug intake or systemic diseases, diagnosis requires adequate clinical evaluation accompanied by imaging studies, timely surgical treatment with rehabilitation is essential for a successful outcome. recovery. We present the case of a 33-year-old male with acute bilateral simultaneous rupture of the patellar tendon with no identified risk factors for whom we used a primary repair technique with titanium anchors with ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene sutures. We found in the literature only thirteen similar cases up to 2023, no case reported in Mexico.
