ABSTRACT
Introduction: vertical talus is an infrequent but important pathology in pediatric orthopedics. Objectives: to describe medium-term functional results in patients with vertical talus undergoing surgical treatment regardless of the surgery performed, according to the Ogata and Schoenecker classification, surgical treatments. Material and methods: observational, descriptive, cross-sectional study. We included 40 patients and 63 feet postoperative by vertical talus with follow-up between 5 and 11 years at Shriners Hospital for Children, Mexico. They were classified into three groups according to Ogata and Schoenecker, functional assessment was obtained by applying the Laaveg Ponseti questionnaire. Results: the average age was 12.3 ± 2.78 years, and 7.9 ± 2.18 years elapsed since surgery; functional results: very good (60.3%), good (28.6%), fair (7.9%), poor (3.2%); in the idiopathic group 18 feet, in the one associated with other anomalies without neurological deficit 34 and the one associated with neurological disorders 11. In the three groups, very good functional results prevailed with 50, 61.8, and 72.7%, respectively. The most used surgery, a single surgical time with internal and posterior approach. Conclusions: the functional results are good or very good regardless of the surgery and these are maintained when analyzing them by groups; a single surgical time with medial and posterior approach was the most used.REFERENCES
