ABSTRACT
We present a case of penile reconstruction after a burn injury and its surgical management. The management of burns in the genital area is complex, due to the specific characteristics of the skin in this area. Surgical management includes a combination of techniques, such as debridement of necrotic tissue, full-thickness skin grafts, and Z-plasty to treat scar contractures. Penis lengthening methods can also be used, such as sectioning of the suspensory ligaments and advancement of suprapubic skin; but, results are modest, with a high number of problems and low satisfaction. The patient in this case had a burn injury during circumcision, resulting in superficial and deep second-degree burns on the entire surface of the penis and pubic region. Multiple surgeries were performed, including scar resection, Z-plasty, and split-thickness skin grafts. After the healing process was complete, a penile lengthening procedure was performed, resulting in an increase in length from 4 to 13 cm. The surgical management was individualized and multidisciplinary, and the results were successful. The text emphasizes the importance of a multidisciplinary approach and individualized management in these cases.REFERENCES
