ABSTRACT
The absence of a single tooth can occur due to trauma, cavities or congenital alterations. The implant-supported prosthesis has
become a common treatment to restore an absent tooth, however, not all patients are eligible to receive it. There are several treatment
options, the most conservative is the resin bonded bridge or Maryland. The all-ceramic Maryland prosthesis has a better aesthetic
appearance, less accumulation of dental biofilm and is biocompatible. The conformation of an ovate pontic, provides major esthetic to
the restoration, because it simulates the emergence profile of a natural tooth. Its design allows proper cleaning to prevent accumulation
of dental biofilm and soft tissue inflammation. In this article, we report the clinical case of a female patient with congenital absence of
both upper laterals. Soft tissues were optimized by gingivoplasty, and ovoid pontics for the successful placement of the prosthesis,
obtaining greater aesthetics in the anterior sector, since it imitates an emergence profile of a natural tooth, in addition, it allows for
adequate cleaning.
