ABSTRACT
Currently the cardiac surgery is practiced to treat a great number of cardiac disorders successfully, nevertheless, its complications have been increased such as the deep sternal infection whose serious manifestation is the mediastinitis, the med treatment is sternal debridement surgery, drainage of abscesses, irrigations or reconstructive surgery, recently works have been published and describe the employment of the aspiration of the retroesternal space and mediastinum through negative pressure in the injury that removes the excess of fluid of the interstitial space and prevent the bacterial growth. In the National Institute of Cardiology this therapy is utilized to promove the injuries cicatrization, showing that the use of the System of Cicatrization Attended by VAC (Vacuum-Assisted-Closure) it’s very effective in the med treatment of the mediastinitis for eliminate the chronic exuded and to control the development of bacteria. On this base itself a case clinic using the nurse method and the orientation of V. Henderson’s theoretical model, in a patient with mediastinitis submitted to med treatment with VAC in order to covering its individual needs and to generate evidence of the care.REFERENCES
