ABSTRACT
Background: Intraoperative diagnosis of breast cancer metastases in axillary sentinel nodes is desirable to avoid a second operation for lymphadenectomy. Imprint cytologic is a technique that is high specificity and sensitivity, the goal of this paper is to know in our hospital the security of the technique.
Methods: A retrospective evaluation of women with early breast cancer and sentinel node imprint cytologic.
Results: One hundred women were included. Pooled sensitivity of imprint cytologic was 80% and specificity 98%; positive predictive value was 95% and negative predictive value 93%.
Conclusion: Imprint cytologic is a technique with good sensitivity and specificity and is the high security in our practice.
