El papel de la impronta transoperatoria en la evaluación del ganglio centinela en mujeres con cáncer de mama. Experiencia del Hospital de Oncología

RESUMEN
Antecedentes: Cuando se ha establecido como rutina el mapeo ganglionar y la BGC, la evaluación del GC es fundamental para decidir si se efectúa el vaciamiento axilar. Es aquí que la impronta citológica transoperatoria juega un papel fundamental; el objetivo del estudio fue demostrar la seguridad diagnóstica del método.
Método: Se hizo una revisión retrospectiva de mujeres con cáncer de mama EC 0, I y II con ganglios negativos y que fueron sometidas a mapeo ganglionar y BGC con evaluación citológica transoperatoria del GC para conocer la seguridad diagnóstica de la prueba.
Resultados: Del 1° de marzo de 2002 al 28 de febrero de 2004, se analizaron 100 casos de mujeres con cáncer de mama temprano sometidas a MG y BGC, los valores resultantes de la impronta citológica transoperatoria del GC fueron sensibilidad de 80%, especificidad de 98%, VPP 95% y VPN 93%.
Conclusiones: Los resultados muestran que la impronta citológica transoperatoria es una prueba diagnóstica segura y útil en nuestro medio.
