ABSTRACT
Actinic prurigo, previously designated Hutchinson’s summer prurigo, is a photodermatosis that typically affects American natives. It usually begins during chidhood and tends improve during adolescence and adult life. The eruption consists of pruritic papules, frequently excoriated and eccematized, in sun-exposed skin. Cheilitis is common, as in conjunctivitis. Treatment includes the avoidance of sunlight and the use of sunscreens and protective clothing. Emollients, topical steroid and antihistamines help to control symptoms. We report a case of actinic prurigo who presente a dramatic response with tacrolimus ointment. Thus, tacrolimus ointment is a safe and effective treatment in actinic prurigo.
