ABSTRACT
Introduction: erythroderma is a skin disorder of difficult diagnosis. Among its causes are psoriasis, atopy, lymphoproliferative disorders and medications. Multiple myeloma is not described as a frequent cause of this skin lesion.Case report: it is a male patient of 65 years, mestizo, which since 2015 was followed by an erythroderma of difficult management. In 2016, we consulted with medicine after several admissions and decided to carry out a medullogram where the existence of multiple myeloma is confirmed.
Conclusions: erythroderma is a paraneoplastic skin lesion that may be related to myeloma and even constitute its dermatological expression, one year before symptoms. In a case with erythroderma of long evolution and without remission, one must think about myeloma because of the frequency that this neoplasm turns out to be and even more so if the bone pains are associated.
