Seborrheic dermatitis or psoriasis?

ABSTRACT

Introduction: Psoriasis is a chronic inflammatory disease that affects the skin, mucous membranes, nails and joints, in some cases. When the lesions appear in the facial region and intertriginous regions, it is difficult to make the differential diagnosis with seborrheic dermatitis, even in some cases the term sebopsoriasis is used.
Case report: A 26-year-old female patient is reported with erythematous lesions, located on the scalp, trunk and body folds, of six years of evolution. She had been diagnosed with seborrheic dermatitis and treatment was indicated without improvement. She came to our hospital. A skin biopsy was indicated and a diagnosis of psoriasis was confirmed.
Conclusions: The case is reported due to the difficulty in making the differential diagnosis between both entities.
