ABSTRACT
The cross-finger flap is a procedure used to cover defects in the proximal and middle phalanges by transposition of tissue from adjacent healthy fingers with good aesthetic and functional results. We present the case of a patient with complete amputation of the left thumb with exposure of the bone. A cross flap from the index finger to the thumb was performed, with a follow-up of 14 months. The aesthetic and functional result was adequate for both: the patient and the surgeon. This technique should be considered as a treatment option in cases where there is an amputation of the distal region of any of the fingers of the hand that cannot be solved with microsurgery. It can be performed by surgeons with little experience in hand surgery, which is an advantage; and, does not require specific knowledge of microsurgery.REFERENCES
