Four cases of spermatic cord torsion in childhood

ABSTRACT
Spermatic cord torsion is one of the most frequent causes of testicular pain in childhood. Its treatment varies according to the viability of the testicle as a consequence of the hours of evolution of the condition. With the purpose of showing the presentation symptoms of this disease, a study was conducted of four patients aged 3-13 years who attended the emergency service with pain and increased left testicular volume of less than six hours of evolution. All four patients underwent left scrotectomy, detorsion and orchidopexy. Postoperative evolution was favorable, with presence of arterial flow on the testicular Doppler. In conclusion, the time of evolution of the disease and the symptoms with which patients present are decisive factors in the surgical management to be indicated.
