ABSTRACT
Spinal or accessory nerve injury is a rare entity whose diagnosis is often complex. Iatrogenesis is the most common cause of injury. The objective of this article is to feature the complications that may appear and how to approach them. We report the case of a 59-year-old woman referred to our service due to pain and asymmetry in both upper limbs after the removal of a giant left supraclavicular lipoma. An early clinical diagnosis was made, which was confirmed by an electromyogram of the left upper limb. The diagnosis allowed the correct characterization of the lesion and facilitated the prognosis and follow-up. Early rehabilitation began with active-passive kinesitherapy, current stimulation, current analgesia with TENS, and pulsed ultrasound. Finally, hydrokinesitherapy was applied to reduce pain and biomechanical alterations of the shoulder. In conclusion, the patient managed to improve functionality, and quality of life.
