Factors associated with the success of cleft lip and palate treatment

ABSTRACT
The cleft lip and palate are the most frequent congenital facial defects, and are part of the anomalies of the development of the jaws, they may also have ear diseases, recurrent respiratory infections, sleeping disorders, they may have problems for eating as well as speech and language delays, in addition to alteration of facial growth, nutritional and self-esteem issues, that requires prompt multidisciplinary attention. For that, the training of the health services with a local and regionalized preventive approach, with emphasis on the importance of the primary healthcare level, and preventive measures, genetic counseling and support the patient and their families, for an adequate follow-up, specialized timely care, and early detection of complications in patients with CLP from birth to 18 years, will allow effective and quality multidisciplinary treatment to be offered, achieving their social reintegration with a improvement in quality of life.
