ABSTRACT
Introduction: Haemophilus parainfluenzae is a species of gram-negative bacteria, a member of the Pasteurellaceae family that is part of the normal flora of the upper respiratory and/or genitourinary tract, rarely causing invasive disease in children. Clinical case: we present the case of a newborn with clinical and analytical worsening at 48 hours of life, due to sepsis due to Haemophilus parainfluenzae, who evolved favorably after 10 days of antibiotic therapy. Conclusion: an early diagnosis and initiation of empirical treatment by the pediatrician is essential to reduce the morbidity and mortality associated with neonatal sepsis.REFERENCES
