ABSTRACT
Introduction: clavicle fractures represent 2.6-10% of adult fractures. Most occur in young men < 25 years, later in men > 55 years and women > 75 years. Evaluating the functionality of patients undergoing surgery using the DASH scale will allow knowing if the results obtained in this unit are similar to those reported in the national and international literature. It will help us identify the areas of opportunity to implement standardized management for patients with clavicle fractures.
Objective: to report the degree of functionality of patients operated for a clavicle fracture in the middle third at six months in the Orthopedics service of the Regional Hospital 1
o de Octubre.
Material and methods: descriptive research, where the unit of information will be the clinical record of patients who meet the following criteria: complete according to NOM 004, diagnosed with middle clavicle fracture, open reduction and fixation operated internal fracture of the clavicle at the Regional Hospital October 1 from January 01, 2018 to December 31, 2018.
Results: a total of 24 cases were identified that fulfilled the inclusion criteria, all of them underwent the postoperative DASH scale, obtaining in 80% scores less than 24 points, while in 20% of the cases found scores >24 points.
Conclusions: in the present study an acceptable functionality of 80% of the cases was found, comparable with that reported in the national and international literature.
