ABSTRACT
Care of burned patients continues to be a challenge for the attending physician, due
to all the pathophysiology processes than develop at the same time in the same patient.
The severe burn patient is a critical patient in which the specific interventions
change drastically evolution and outcome. The objective of this paper is to provide
a brief approach to various interventions and to provide a quick guide to the care
of the patient. Such strategies consist of resuscitation, nutrition, mechanical ventilation,
blood products management, analgesia, glycemic management, temperature
control, and others.
