ABSTRACT
Introduction: Cardiovascular diseases are the most frequent cause of death in women; these can be treated by precutaneous intervention. Objective: To describe the results of percutaneous coronary intervention in women. Material and method: A cross-sectional descriptive observational study was carried out in women treated at the Hemodynamics service of the HermanosAmeijeiras Clinical Surgical Hospital between January 2013 and December 2017. Results: The mean age was 62.75 ± 13.98 years; 348 cases (76.5%) had high blood pressure as a risk factor. The diagnosis was stable angina in 244 cases (53.6%), 247 patients (54.3%) had disease of one vessel, in 57.8% the anterior descending artery was treated and in 47% a type B1 lesion was treated. The most used access was the radial route (367 cases; 80.7%). In 322 cases (50.9%) the direct stent was not placed and it was of the conventional type in 398 (62.9%). The technical result was successful in 439 patients (96.5%). Only 24 (5.3%) complications were observed. Conclusions: In the patients studied, the majority of the elderly and with stable angina, one-vessel disease and type B1 lesion were the most represented. The non-direct stent technique was the most widely used to treat coronary stenosis, as well as the conventional stent. The technical result of the percutaneous coronary intervention was successful, with a low frequency of complications.REFERENCES
