ABSTRACT
Introduction. Cardiorespiratory arrest is a serious health problem, which must be treated quickly and efficiently in order to maintain life and reduce sequelae derived from ineffective maneuvers.
Objective. To determine the impact of an educational intervention on the development of skills on basic life support (CPR).
Methodology. Quasi-experimental study, of medical students, to whom an evaluation instrument adapted from validated questionnaires of the BLS Provider Book 2016 and article by López-González A et al. An initial and a final evaluation were carried out after the intervention, which consisted of a synchronous and online training on the subject, based on the links of the American Heart Association
Results. 479 medical students were included, who obtained average grades in an initial and final evaluation of 5.69 + 1.5 and 8.70 + 1.2, respectively, with a value of p‹0.5, equal to 0.000*, which demonstrates highly significant learning.
Conclusion. The educational intervention implemented had an impact on the development of skills for basic cardiopulmonary resuscitation and showed an increase in the scores of the final evaluation.
