ABSTRACT
Background: Multiple myeloma is a severe hematologic malignancy characterized by the presence of plasma cells producing a monoclonal immunoglobulin with bone marrow infiltration. The most common presentation symptom (67%) was bone pain. The most common complications present in the diagnosis were anemia (54%), bone disease (45%) and renal failure (36%); although the affectations at the level of the central nervous system have been considered infrequent but not non-existent variables. The clinical presentation found in the variants associated with infiltration of the central nervous system is characterized by presenting paresis and dysesthesias directly proportional to the percentage of nervous disorders.Clinical case: A 39-year-old female patient with medullar affection in posterior horns as initial manifestation of multiple myeloma.
Conclusions: In Mexico, the statistics of this type of disease have been deficient; however, it is sought to guide in a timely manner and make a differential diagnosis to avoid complications derived from the underlying disease.
