ABSTRACT
Stevens-Johnson syndrome is a rare and serious acute inflammatory disease, caused by a hypersensitivity reaction, secondary to medication or infection intake, which affects the skin and mucous membranes, producing characteristic lesions of reactive dermatoses with the presence of vesicles and / or blisters, caused by keratinocyte apoptosis. Its association with dimenhydrate is uncommon.
The case of a 9-year-old schoolgirl is presented, with a clinical diagnosis of Stevens-Johnson syndrome, with cutaneous, ocular, genital and oral mucosal manifestations, which began after intake of dimenhydrate. It was maintained with a protocol of care that included the proscription of the drug and the beginning of pharmacological and non-pharmacological measures; After 10 days of hospitalization, the patient progresses satisfactorily without complications during her hospital stay.
