ABSTRACT
Introduction. The complexity of the scenario where universities takes place nowadays, makes students face new training needs in short periods of time. Topics such as sexuality, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, sexual diversity and sexual rights are beginning to form part of the knowledge that future professionals should have, according to the demands of current times. In addition, there has been a great increase of cases treated in medical consultations and at the Ernesto Che Guevara hospital center from the University of Computer Sciences (UCI), with clinical manifestations related to sexually transmitted infections (STIs). Objective. To propose an educational strategy aimed at preventing STIs in students from the University of Informatics Sciences. Methodology. A descriptive and cross-analytical study was carried out in which the level of knowledge about the aforementioned subject and the perception of risk were evaluated. Results. The need for actions contained in the educational strategy that contribute to the comprehensive general training of students for the prevention of STIs was verified in the initial diagnosis and by specialist criteria. Conclusion. The proposal provides possibilities for exchange and reflection, which demonstrate the acceptability and viability of the educational strategy, made up of criteria of flexibility and social participation. Recommendations. To carry out a multisectorial work, to achieve a greater orientation on the issues of sexual health promotion and STI prevention, involving the pedagogical staff.REFERENCES
