ABSTRACT
Objective: To describe the imaging findings that facilitate the diagnosis of medulla oblongata hemangioblastoma associated with syringomyelia in a patient.Clinical case report: We report the clinical-imaging case of a 57-year-old white female patient, who was admitted with vertigo and difficulty walking, weakness of the right upper limb that extended to all four extremities, dysphagia, nasal voice tone, diplopia, pain in the neck and arms. She underwent a computerized axial tomography of the skull and magnetic resonance imaging, which revealed the space-occupying lesion at the level of the medulla oblongata and multi-sited at the level of the spinal cord, compatible with hemangioblastoma and syringomyelia. She went through a suboccipital craniotomy surgery with a favorable outcome.
Conclusions: The evaluation of clinical manifestations, neuroimaging findings, laboratory tests, pathological results allowed the etiological diagnosis of medulla oblongata hemangioblastoma associated with syringomyelia.
