ABSTRACT
Pasteurella multocida and canis are frequently associated with human pathology and the most common form of the disease is skin and soft tissue infection. We present a case of Pasteurella canis chronic osteomyelitis in a patient who suffered a dog bite. The treatment of initial acute osteomyelitis was not successful and the transition to chronicity occurred in less than thirty days. The surgical procedure and the culture were very important for the satisfactory evolution of the patient until his cure. Chronic osteomyelitis due to Pasteurella canis, after a dog bite, is unusual, which emphasizes the importance of adequate identification in the laboratory for the diagnosis and treatment of such infections.
