ABSTRACT
Septic shock represents a complex disease that consumes many resources, it causes a
very high death rate and it must be managed in a critical care unit. However, in many
cases there is no physical space in these units and the invasive technology necessary
for monitoring this type of patients is not available in the general hospitalization rooms.
For this reason, a minimum invasion monitoring approach to the patient’s bedside is
proposed. This monitoring is based on clinical and non-invasive hemodynamic aspects
and an adequate interpretation of both arterial and venous gases. Likewise, the concept
of oxygen debt and the practical form of its treatment are reinforced.
