ABSTRACT
Introduction: Vulvodinia is a vulvar pain with multifactorial origin that can affect almost the 30% of women and it affects different aspects of women’s health.
Objective: It was conducted a bibliometric study in which were analysed from the records found in PubMed, Cochrane and PEDro (2008-2017): bibliometric indicators of production, authorship-collaboration, Bradford´s law and visibility of the journals.
Results: 377 articles were found in 212 journals. The most studied age group was the one from 45 to 64 years (29,62%). The main thematic areas studied were: treatment (34,91%), especially the pharmacologic one (34%), and etiology (23,07%). The symptom that generates more interest is dyspareunia (20,11%). The index of transience is 73,24%. The main producer of researches is United States (42,71%). As a result of the bibliometric study on this topic, it is highlighted the productivity and capacity of managing collaboration of the researcher Bergeron. The journal called Obstetrics and Gynecology stands out due to its visibility, and the Journal of Sexual Medicine for its rate of production.
Conclusions: The results of these studies showed their usefulness for researchers in the decision making process on this topic and that collaboration allow a better management of the resources and knowledge, with a higher efficiency of the results.
