ABSTRACT
Introduction: Benign vascular breast tumors are rare and they include parenchymal tumors, which are mostly angiosarcomas, and extra parenchymal tumors, which usually correspond to hemangiomas.
Objective: To report a case of cavernous hemangioma of the breast in an adolescent female patient.
Case report: We report the case of an adolescent female patient, with a mass at the level of the left breast, she was referred to Isidro Ayora Gyneco-obstetric Hospital in Quito, Ecuador, on December 28, 2019, due to a diagnosis of cavernous hemangioma breast. The mass was excised 9 months later, after a core needle biopsy.
Conclusions: Cavernous hemangiomas are the most common hemangiomas of the breast. They constitute a rare benign breast pathology, which belongs to benign tumors of vascular origin. Most of the cases do not present clinical manifestations. They are incidentally diagnosed by histology. Imaging findings and fine needle aspiration cytology are not conclusive; however, control and management must be perfome by imaging. In addition, excision of the mass is recommended to exclude the possibility of an underlying malignant lesion.
