ABSTRACT
The epidemiological study has acquired greater relevance in order to optimize the limited resources available in the country's public services.
Objective: To know the epidemiology of the surgeries performed by the members of the Maxillofacial Surgery Service of the Complejo Asistencial Barros Luco in the span of 11 years, where they were the main surgeons.
Material and methods: The variables that considered were age, health forecast, primary diagnoses, surgeries performed and year in which they were performed. From 521 medical files reviewed, 497 presented their complete data and therefore were analyzed.
Results: The highest number of cares provided was of non-traumatic origin (52.5%); 40.8% of the patients attended had medical insurance (FONASA A). Regarding dental-facial dysmorphic disorder, type III was the most attended (72.8%). Knowing these data is useful to determine the areas to allocate the greatest efforts and available resources.
