ABSTRACT
On March 12, 2020, the World Health Organization (WHO) declared the outbreak of
coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) a pandemic. A combination of lack of
preparedness to contain the first cases and the aggressiveness of the virus itself, along
with an underestimation of the problem during the early stages of the outbreak,
resulted in extremely rapid spread of COVID-19 globally. Various Medical Societies
and some authors from places where this pandemic has been experienced have
provided a series of recommendations in surgical patients, we present a review of the
recommendations in Colorectal Surgery.
