ABSTRACT
Adenosine methylation at position N6 (m6A) is the most frequent modification in messenger RNA (mRNA) in eukaryotes. It is a conserved post-transcriptional mechanism that regulates the fate and function of mRNA. In this review, we analyze and summarize the latest developments in m6A, as well as its role in gene regulation. The reversible modification of m6A in mRNAs represents a novel epigenetic marker with regulatory roles in fundamental biological processes.REFERENCES
