ABSTRACT
The peculiarities of the study of people with disabilities carried out in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines deserve a differentiated visibility due to the intangible innovations that were developed on the previously designed Cuban methodology, extrapolating it with satisfactory results to the language and different context. This study was developed thanks to the triangulation between Cuba, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines and the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Venezuela, aimed to describe the biopsychosocial characteristics of people with disabilities in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines island, as well as the methodological peculiarities of the study. The documental review, analysis and comparison of the action-participatory research developed by Cuba and applied in Saint Vincent was carried out, adapting the Cuban instruments to the language and characteristics of that country according to the peculiarities of this Island. The active search in the community and the defined strategy allowed identifying the people affected, with the active participation of nurses and health activists from Saint Vincent. Two thousand 332 persons with disabilities were found in the country, for a prevalence of 2.32%. The physical-motor disability occupied the first place followed by the intellectual and mental. No people with kidney failure were found. Disability prevailed in the male sex and in the age group of 60 years and over. The main restrictions were identified and 50 hearing aids donated by the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela were delivered. The results obtained were due to the methodology used and the triangulation between ALBA countries, which allowed characterizing the disability in that island.REFERENCES
