ABSTRACT
Early childhood, a severe and particular form of multifactorial etiology Caries, affects the temporary teething of infants, encompasses all types of caries and not only the long-term use of the bottle with a prevalence of 50% at 2 years of age. Prevention of this disease is directed to care for parents/carers and care by specialist.
Objective: To know the level of knowledge on oral health of parents and/or caregivers and oral health of infants.
Materials and methods: Study of cutting transversal, descriptive, prospective, simple random sampling, applied in Centro in Villahermosa Tabasco CENDI. Parents/caregivers of children was included in infant stage. Prior informed consent, an instrument was used to identify factors associated with dental care, assessing diet, oral hygiene frequency, ICDAS in infants, submitting results in program SPSS (50 infants and 30 parents/carers).
Results: 72% of parents have moderate level of health knowledge, the most delegate care child family members/employees. 87% of infants had carious lesion: white spot until brown lesion with cavity and destruction of the Crown. Mostly affected upper previous dental organs.
