ABSTRACT
Objective: To know the form of presentation and characteristics of endometrial cancer
in patients treated at the Hospital Juan Ramón Jiménez, to evaluate the laparoscopic
approach to its treatment and to analyze its evolution.
Materials and Methods: Observational and retrospective study of cases of endometrial
carcinoma diagnosed at the Juan Ramón Jiménez Hospital in Huelva, Spain,
between January 2013 and December 2017 and treated with laparoscopic surgery. Inclusion
criteria: patients diagnosed with endometrial carcinoma. Study parameters: surgical
complications and survival time. Data were analyzed with SPSS software version 23.
Results: We found 170 cases with a diagnosis of endometrial carcinoma: 155
(91.17%) treated with primary surgery by laparoscopy. There were 3 cases (2%) with
intraoperative and immediate postoperative complications. The survival rate at the
time of analysis was 98%.
Conclusions: Laparoscopic treatment of patients with endometrioid adenocarcinoma
is safe and with success rates similar to the classic abdominal approach.
