HELLP syndrome and hepatic spontaneous rupture.

ABSTRACT
Objective: To present a case of HELLP syndrome and spontaneous hepatic rupture.
Design: Case report.
Setting: ICU of a tertiary care hospital, Mexico City.
Patient: A 37-yrs-old patient with HELLP syndrome who developed spontaneous hepatic rupture and multiple organ failure dysfunction.
Interventions: Pulmonary artery catheter insertion, surgical treatment, use of crystalloid solutions, red blood package, platelets and fresh frozen plasma, as well as mechanical ventilation support and renal replacement therapy.
Measurements and main results: It was found hepatic rupture, hemoperitoneum, subcapsular hematoma, enlargement of TP,TTP and TP, low platelets hypofibrinogenemia, hypoxemia and increase level of serum creatinine and BUN.
Conclusion: Hepatic rupture is a serious complication of HELLP syndrome.
